Millennium Partnership Fund

How much Millennium Partnership funding is available to a student?
Amounts approved under the fund will vary, depending on factors such as the needs of each individual applicant and the overall level of demand for the fund in the local area.

I am repeating a year of college and am registered on an recognised course. Can I apply for the Millennium Partnership Fund?
Yes, being a repeat student (registered) does not preclude you from making application to the fund, however please note that the fund cannot be used to pay for tuition fees.

Can I apply to the Millennium Partnership Fund if I am participating in an Access/Foundation course?
Applications to the fund will be considered from students on access/foundation courses where there is a designated link to a higher education qualification.

I am registered on a recognised course and am receiving additional support under the Fund for Students with Disabilities. Am I eligible to apply for the Millennium Partnership Fund?
Yes.

Can I apply for Millennium Partnership Fund at any time in the academic year?
This depends on the way your local participating community company manages the fund. Your local company may have funds to assist eligible students with small, once-off financial ‘emergencies’ that occur during the academic year. However the Millennium Partnership Fund also functions to help students who face ongoing financial difficulties in respect of participating in college. Participating community companies may not have funding available throughout the academic year for this latter category of applicants. If your financial need is relating to this latter category, it is advisable that you make application to the fund as soon as possible after the start of the academic year.

If I am successful in applying for Millennium Partnership funding in an academic year, does this mean that I will be supported by the fund in a subsequent academic year?
No. You must re-apply to your local participating community company for assistance in the subsequent academic year(s).

If I am successful in applying for the Millennium Partnership Fund, do I need to verify the expenditure/costs which gave rise to my application?
This will depend on the structures in place for the management and monitoring of the fund at local level.

If my application to the Millennium Partnership Fund is not approved by my local participating community company, can I appeal the decision?
It is not required of participating companies that they have a formal appeals process, however they can discuss with you the reason(s) why your application was not successful.

If my application to the Millennium Partnership Fund is not approved by my local participating community company, can I apply again the following academic year?
Yes.

I am an Irish student enrolling in a full-time course in a higher education institution outside the Republic of Ireland. Am I eligible to apply to the Millennium Partnership Fund?
Yes, as long as the course is being taken in an EU country.
