You are eligible to apply for a grant if you meet all of the following conditions:

• I am entering an approved PLC course* for the first time
  
• I do not already hold a FETAC Level 5 qualification (formerly NCVA Level 2)**
  
• I do not already hold a FETAC Level 6 qualification (formerly NCVA Level 3)
  
• I do not already hold a qualification which is at higher certificate level or above
  

*Approved under the Maintenance Grant Scheme for Students Attending Post Leaving Certificate Courses

**Note that if you already hold a qualification lower than or equivalent to FETAC Level 5 and the chosen PLC course offers progression to a higher qualification, you may be deemed eligible to apply for a grant.

NOTE: The second chance option for re-entry, which allows those who have dropped out of a course without qualifying to return and re-start their studies after 5 years, is also to be applied without the requirement to return to a course at the same level, but subject to the principle of progression.

Grant aid shall be limited to a maximum of 3 years in total for those engaging in PLC courses.
