Millennium Partnership Fund

The Millennium Partnership Fund provides financial assistance for further and higher education students who are experiencing financial difficulties whilst attending college. Students can apply to the Fund to help them with either temporary or ongoing financial difficulties. The Millennium Partnership Fund provides a further source of funding in addition to schemes such as the Maintenance Grant or the Student Assistance Fund.

The Millennium Partnership Funding is administered by local partnership companies and community groups in specific areas around the country. Students in need of financial support in these areas can apply directly to their local community group for assistance from the Fund.

Participating community organisations can also utilise Millennium Partnership funding to provide non-financial support such as study skills, guidance or mentoring. In the main, however, the bulk of the Fund is distributed to local further and higher education students most in need of financial assistance.

The Millennium Partnership Fund is not available from colleges.

To work out whether you may be eligible for the Fund you need to be aware of the main conditions of the programme. The 6-step guide, which you can access from the left-hand side of this page, will assist you in this process. Each step has a button that will guide you through the eligibility requirements of the fund.

Important: Please note that a decision was made as part of Budget 2010 to discontinue the Millennium Fund from 2010 onwards. The Millennium Fund continues to operate for the 2009-10 academic year, however it will not be available from the 2010-11 academic year onwards.
