Firstly, please read the definition of dependent children for the purposes of the student grant schemes as we will need to ask you a question on this.

Dependent children means children, including foster children, of the applicant’s parent(s) or guardian(s) who, on 1 October 2012, were:

(i) under 16 years of age, or
(ii) 16 years of age or over and

• are attending a full-time course of study at an educational institution and are dependent on their parents, or
• are medically certified as permanently unfit for work;
